While the town of High Point isn't considered the typical "college town" there are a few locations that many students seem to overlook. From quality coffee to delicious dining there are various options to choose from if you want to take a break from campus.

If you are looking for to fill your caffeine cravings, and your Starbucks order just isn't cutting it - there are two spots I've found that never disappoint. For a cozy and calm environment, Debeen is the place for you. With signature drinks like the brown sugar latte (which is one of my favorites), you can't go wrong with any order. This shop is an ideal study spot or place to catch up with friends.

The second place is a coffee truck which you can track all over High Point. Usually located in front of Brown Truck Brewery this trendy truck offers signature sips like their lavender latte.

For dining purposes there a plenty of places aside from the usual chain restaurants to choose from. One of my favorite local options is Carolina's Diner which is the place to be for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This old fashioned diner offers a large menu from basic breakfast to malt milkshakes and doesn't disappoint. Make sure you get there early or are okay with waiting, because the tables fill fast and you could be looking at an hour long wait for their famous food.

If you enjoy brunch as much as I do, another tasty treat to try is the crepes at Penny Path Cafe. Located on Main St. in downtown High Point this small space creates big flavor.

There are so many local businesses similar to these four that you can enjoy in High Point if you just take the time to research and explore. Next time you want to eat a meal out, look for somewhere local instead of hitting up the Cookout drive through!
