Home for the Holidays

For every school break I always make my way back home to Fort Mill, South Carolina. The small suburban town is all I've ever known. With parents and grandparents who all grew up in the Fort Mill area it is a place rooted in family tradition.
I know plenty of students whose families opt for vacations during the holiday seasons, but for my family it is a time to cherish with one another in the place that we were all raised.

Since both sides of my family live so close, with my dad's side literally being our neighbors on our family owned road, there is always two sets of celebrations for each holiday.
During thanksgiving we always have a breakfast at my dad's parents house. I love this tradition because it includes a warm fire by the tv where we all gather to watch the Macy's parade after enjoying a warm meal paired with hot spiced cider.

We then take a break at home where we begin preparing food for our next stop, which is my mom's parents house. We feast on dinner there alongside the company of the rest of our family and enjoy each others presence.

Thanksgiving is a time I always look forward to because of the loving family I get to share it with.
