Journalistic Inspiration

I look to the Today show for a lot of my inspiration as a journalist. With hopes to work within the broadcast industry I spend a lot of my time viewing the specific broadcasts that I could one day see as a job.

Anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie set the tone for the type of writing and broadcasting style I most admire. The conversationalist emphasis creates a friendly atmosphere that makes the viewers feel comfortable.

I desire to have this intimate connection with my readers where they feel a personal connection with the words I am sharing. I believe that this conversation centered tone can be beneficial in journalistic writing as well as in broadcasting.

For this blog I have chosen to write about my personal experiences to add a different level of connection than just news stories. Along with the writing I produce I also include various images and pictures that either I have taken or that show me doing the activities I am writing about.

Being a visual person I feel that the images enhance the reader's experience and helps to connect the written words with real-life actions. This is one of the reasons that I am so interested in broadcast. The segments produced give people video evidence of the stories being shared and adds another layer of understanding when the audience can view the events for themselves.
