When in Spain

I’d never dreamed of going to Spain, but now that I’ve been I can’t wait to go back. Even with my minimal Spanish speaking skills it was amazing to interact with the locals and conform to their way of life.
I quickly realized that everyone is very active and your feet act as the best form of transportation in the busyness that is Barcelona. There was a relaxing undertone to the fast paced life of those surrounding me, and I longed to achieve their balance.

Aside from the main attractions that precede Barcelona's name such as the Segrada Familia and Park Güell I was attracted to the everyday lifestyle of the area. Popping into a market to grab some groceries, stopping at a cafe for coffee or lounging outdoors waiting for tapas became so natural to me.

While I realized I was on vacation and had no specific place to be with no time constraints I still felt an overwhelming sense of home. Due to the fact that Barcelona was my family's final destination of a 2 week trip, the rest of my family members were not hesitant to share their desire to return home. I had the opposite response and still wish more than anything that I could have stayed longer than the three days I was there.
There were so many places left unseen and people left unheard of. I know that Barcelona is a place that will always hold a place in my heart and will be the reason I venture to other areas of Spain in the future.
